Growth: Encourage Your Team to Invest in Themselves

As a network marketer, you know building a thriving team is vital to success. As a leader, you’ve likely shared your own journey of personal and professional growth with them in an effort to inspire them to reach their full potential. One of the most important things you can do is show them how to commit to growth and invest in themselves. Your team wants to grow but they may not know how to do it. Give them the tools they need to create a habit of personal growth and development.

Why investing in yourself matters

Self-investment isn’t just about spending money on personal development tools. It’s about dedicating time, energy, and resources to enhance one’s skills, knowledge, and mindset.

Increased productivity

Want to increase their productivity? Encourage them to learn new skills. By acquiring new skills and knowledge, your team members can work more efficiently and effectively. And they’re excited to put the skills to use. Using their new skills can even spark new ideas and innovative approaches to solving problems they may encounter.

Improved confidence

As your team grows and develops, their self-confidence will soar, leading to better performance. They’ll feel more confident when reaching out to everyone in their networks. This will give a favorable impression of them and build trust. Trust is the foundation of a strong marketing business. The more confident they feel, the better leaders they’ll become.

Chances are you know who your potential leaders are. Single them out and nurture their leadership skills. Investing in leadership training can help your team members emerge as strong leaders within your team..

Greater resilience

As they’re developing a growth mindset, your team members will have the ability to bounce back from setbacks and challenges with greater ease. Their shape skills will equip them to handle anything that comes their way.

How to encourage a growth mindset

If you want to encourage your team to have a growth mindset, there are some things to do. Here are some ideas to try.

Be an example

Don’t expect your team to commit to growth if you’re not committing to it yourself. If you want your team to make personal and professional growth a priority, you have to model the behavior yourself. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: it’s up to you to model the behavior you wish to see on your team.

Share with your team what you’re doing to continue to grow. Be transparent about your own journey, including why you committed to personal development and the successes and struggles you’ve faced. List the books you’ve read, the courses you’ve taken, and the mentors you’ve worked with. Encourage them to read the books and take the courses too.

Set goals

Set clear, achievable goals for your own personal and professional development. Share these goals with your team and have them set goals for themselves. Be sure to check in once you’ve set the goals so that you can track progress and stay on track.

As you hit each milestone and smaller goal, acknowledge and celebrate it. This will motivate your team to do the same. There is no milestone or goal too small. Celebrate it all! Or at least give it a shout out at your team meetings or on social media. The celebration should be on par with the goal achieved.

Provide resources for growth and development

Send your team a recommended reading list. Create a list of books, articles, and podcasts that can help your team members grow. Update it regularly and encourage your team to add to it as well. It should be a living document that can be updated easily.

You can also share information about affordable online courses and webinars, like the ones offered by Teamzy, that can be completed at their own pace. This makes it easier to complete.

Be a mentor

Mentorship is a great way to encourage your team to commit to growth. Mentoring helps people visualize success. It also gives your team someone to share their experiences for all to learn from. Although you can mentor your team, you can connect your team members with experienced mentors who can provide guidance and support.

Create a culture of growth and learning

A culture of learning is one in which learning and growth are celebrated and encouraged. Learning is even expected if the culture is strong enough. There are many ways to create a culture of learning on your team.

  • Host regular training sessions. Organize regular training sessions on a variety of topics, from product knowledge to sales techniques to leadership skills. Your team may not know where to get additional training and when you offer it yourself, they’ll appreciate that you took the time to help them grow and succeed.
  • Organize a book club. Start a book club with your team to encourage them to read the books on the recommended reading list and discussion. Have them share what they feel is the big lesson in the book and brainstorm ways to incorporate the lesson in your businesses.
  • Organize skill-sharing sessions. Set aside time each meeting for team members to share their expertise with one another. You don’t have to dedicate the whole meeting to it, but commit some of the time to this activity. This will also help them bond as a team and will build trust between them.

The power of a growing team

When your team members invest in themselves, they become more valuable to your team and feel more confident and fulfilled as individuals. By encouraging personal development, you’re not only building a stronger team, but you’re also creating a more positive and supportive environment in which to thrive.

Remember, the key to long-term success in network marketing is to build a team of motivated, skilled, and passionate individuals. By encouraging your team to invest in themselves, you’re setting the stage for future growth and prosperity.

Things to remember about growth

Here are some clever tips to remember to foster growth in your team.

  • Make it personal. Tailor your encouragement to each individual team member’s needs and interests. We all have strengths and we all love a leader who can identify them and help us build them. Your team will appreciate the individualized attention.
  • Practice patience: Personal development is a journey, not a destination. Results aren’t immediate; it takes time to acquire skills and better habits. Encourage them to be patient as they acquire skills and reinforce that results aren’t always instantaneous.
  • Offer support: Offer support and encouragement when your team members need it. They’ll appreciate that you reached out and are more likely to overcome the issue that is plaguing them.
