Boost Relationships During the Holidays
Christmas is only three weeks away. That means you have less than three weeks to connect with your relationship network and close out the quarter (and year) on a high note. Traditional network marketers spend this time of the year annoying everyone they know, including family, friends, and whoever is left in their network.
However, as a network marketer who values relationships, you work much differently. In fact, you prefer to spend the season building relationships and making sales along the way. For many, this seems easier said than done. After all, you need to remind your network that your business is available for their holiday shopping needs. But, you don’t want to seem like an annoying pest who is only talking to them so you can make a sale (and that’s the last time they’ll hear from you until you need to meet your quota next).
Teamzy hears you and has you covered. Here’s how to boost your sales during this festive and wonderful time of year without alienating your favorite people.
Recognize the opportunity to connect with all of your relationships
The holiday season provides ample opportunity to connect with your network. Although you may not connect with them in person as much, you can connect with them online, whether through social media or Zoom. When you connect with your favorite people, your heart is coming from a place of service. You want to help them find the perfect gift for everyone on their lists.
Of course it feels fantastic to make a sale; however, it’s not just about that. It’s about developing the relationship and showing your network that you care.
Increase social activity
Even though socializing looks a bit different this year, people are still connecting with one another. Although in-person parties are much, much smaller this year, or nonexistent depending on local health guidelines, people are finding other ways to connect, most commonly taking the party online. Last year, your calendar was filled with holiday parties and dinner parties; this year, your email is full of online video invites.
Social messaging your relationships
Get online and connect with your network through social media messaging apps. No need to send a long message; keep it short and sweet. Just pop in to say hello and wish them a wonderful day. That’s it. They’ll be happy you thought of them and you’ll stay top of mind as they do their Christmas shopping.
With all that’s gone on this year, many people are shopping closer to home, choosing to purchase gifts from the businesses of people they know. Encourage this support by checking in with them and reminding them of your business.

Build your relationships online
In past years, many network marketers would host parties to thank their networks for business and support. Those plans have been put on hold this year; however, there’s nothing stopping you from taking the party virtual.
Set up a Zoom meeting with the biggest advocates in your network. Here are some ideas:
- Share your top gift ideas and new products. Focus on those people who are difficult to shop for – what products does your company have that would make even the most difficult person happy?
- If your business focuses on wellness, share how your products and services can help them navigate the holiday season with less stress.
- If your business is focused on health, share tips to stay healthy and fit during the holidays. Also include some healthy recipes (or healthy versions of holiday favorites).
The key is to provide value to your network. You can even take it a step further and offer a sharable version of the content you’re sharing, such as a gift guide or healthier alternative to a favorite recipe. Then encourage attendees to share the information with people they know who would appreciate it (and be sure to have your contact information on the shareable information).
Follow up with your relationships
If you do nothing else this season, follow up. Seriously, make it a priority. Most network marketers reach out and then never follow up again. Perhaps they assume that the person will reply on their own. However, given the busy nature of this time of year, it’s easy to forget. Following up not only shows you care, it also keeps you top of mind.
Staying top of mind is a challenge for any business owner, including network marketers. Although you may assume your network will always think of you when it’s time to shop for themselves and loved ones, the truth is, most won’t. That’s why it’s critical to stay in touch with your network so that you’re the first person they think of when they think of your industry.
Log into Teamzy to see who to contact each day. Reach out to your network with a short message to say hello and wish them well. Do this every day and before you know it, you’ll be well on your way to achieving your sales goals this year.
Keep connecting until the last minute
There are rare people who start their Christmas shopping early and have everything taken care of before the summer ends. Then there are the rest of us, who get it done in December. Since people wait until the very last minute to purchase gifts for their loved ones, keep following up until the last minute.
Keep your downline motivated
Don’t forget about your distributors, who are also striving to reach their sales goals before the end of the month. Offer them the support and tips that you use to help you thrive during the holiday season.
Showing support not only helps you strengthen your relationships with your downline, it also provides a model for them to follow when they reach out to their networks. After all, you can’t tell them to follow up consistently if they only sporadically hear from you.
Help them set goals for the season
Many network marketers are motivated by goals. Work with your downline to create personal goals for them to reach at this time of year. Have them review their numbers from last year, if possible, and set goals accordingly. This will give them something to focus on when life gets busy.
Send inspirational/encouraging messages
When you follow up, include inspirational or encouraging quotes, sayings, advice, etc. to keep them motivated well into January.
Don’t forget about your prospects
Your prospects may be warming up to network marketing, and many will be happy that it focuses more on relationships than just making sales. Many people begin looking for ways to make more money during the holiday season and beginning of the year. The more consistently you connect with your prospects, the more likely they may be to join your team. Again, you’ll stay top of mind so that when they’re ready, they’ll get in touch.
Don’t forget about you
Specifically, why you got into network marketing in the first place. Was it to make more money? To achieve a big savings goal or purchase? To fulfill a dream of owning your own business? Whatever it was, remember your Why at this time of year, especially when you’re stressed or overwhelmed by everything going on in life. Your Why will help you stay motivated and focused when you’re tempted to give up.
Take a break…
Plan to take breaks throughout the day. Breaks will keep your energy high and allow your mind to rest. This will make you far more effective to your network, as well as your family and loved ones.
But don’t take your eye off the prize
Remember your goals. What were the sales goals you set for the year and the quarter? Are you close to reaching them? Whether you’re right on track or are playing catchup, remember what you’re striving for. Work hard and stay motivated so you can reach your goals. This means doing your Power Hour daily, contacting people in your network every day, and following up. Consistency is key at this time of year. Keep your eyes on the ultimate goal – leading a thriving business.
