Create Connections: Prepare for the Holiday Season
The holiday season is right around the corner and you know what that means: it’s time to connect with your network. This time of year is the best time to create connections with everyone in your network, from your top advocates to people you may have lost touch with. At this time of year, we want to be social. Between Halloween, where we connect over kids and candy to Thanksgiving and Christmas where we connect with friends and family, this is the best time to reach out and check-in. Additionally, since people are in search of the perfect gift to give their loved ones, this is also an excellent time to talk about your business. If you’ve been waiting for a reason to follow up and connect with your network, here it is. Today will help you prepare for this social time of year so you can create connections with your network.
Make connections with your network
Power Hours are a great way to schedule a connection with your network. During this time you will log into Teamzy and review the list of names on your dashboard. These are the people who you’ll reach out to for the day. Additionally, if you’ve scheduled follow-ups, you’ll connect with them as well.
If you haven’t been doing regular Power Hours, this is your time to commit to doing them more regularly. In fact, given the busy time of year, you may want to do them several times a week. Depending on the size of your network, it often will take you less than an hour to complete your connections. If your network is really large, you might take the full hour. However, most people can connect with everyone they need to in 30 minutes or less.
You want to focus on making their day. You’re just reaching out to see how they’re doing and check-in. This puts you at top of mind. Many will reach back out to you and ask how you are, which gives you an opportunity to talk about your business. some may not reach out, and that’s okay. People are busy, especially at this time of year. The important part is reaching out to them and creating that line of communication. If you’re not sure what to say or how to start the conversation, we have scripts to help.
Look for a need
When you’re creating connections with your network, look for opportunities to fill a need. When you’re talking to them in person or communicating with them through text try to read between the lines. Most people will not overtly say that they need help. However, they may mention it in passing. For example, someone may say that they’re so stressed out that their skin is breaking out. If your business is beauty-related, then this is your opportunity to suggest a product that you love that can help them. Or, if your business is health and wellness-related, you may mention stress-relieving techniques that you swear by when you get stressed out. The person didn’t directly say they wanted a recommendation for a beauty product or a stress relief technique; however, by paying attention to the words they use you can infer an area where you can help. What if your business isn’t beauty-related or health or wellness-related? As a network marketer, you may know other network marketers in these verticals. This is your opportunity to introduce them to one another and become the hub of your network.
It’s all about finding a need so you can serve your clients. What better way to be of service to them than by listening for a need? They’ll not only be honored that you want to help, but this also helps you to gain their trust. Relationships are built on trust. The more your customers can trust you, the more likely they are to buy from you. We all want to work with people we know and like and trust. When they trust you they may even want to join your network. The bottom line is still creating those connections.
Ask for introductions
Since this is such a social time of year and the people in your network will be connecting with other people in their networks, this is an excellent time to ask for introductions. Introductions are ways for you to grow your business and your network. Even if you want your network to stay about the same size, it’s vital to continue to be introduced to other people who could benefit from your business by joining your team. Your relationships are the lifeblood of your business.
However many network marketers are anxious about asking for introductions. They know they need to ask; however, they’re just not sure how. After all, they don’t want to seem like the stereotypical pushy salesman. However, your network wants to help you grow your business. This is particularly true of your top advocates. These are the people who are likely already recommending you and your products to everyone they know. They would likely be eager to introduce you if you only asked. So what are you waiting for? When you get in touch with your top advocates, ask for that introduction.
They may not have someone in mind immediately, but your question will be in their minds as they talk to other people. They may talk to someone later in the week who mentions an issue that your business might be able to help with. Or, it might be a few months down the road and a name pops into their head. This is why it’s so imperative to follow up. Most people won’t be able to produce a name right away. And that’s fine. You don’t want to lose touch with them though because they might think of somebody. Follow up and make sure that you’re consistently in contact with everyone in your network, but especially your top advocates. However, introductions can come from anyone in your network, which is why it’s so important to be consistent in your connections with everyone. If you’re not sure how to ask for an introduction, we have Scripts to help.
Be consistent!
Consistency is the key to building strong relationships with the people in your network. You want to make sure that you are in touch with them on a regular basis. By regular basis, we mean a consistent basis. Regular basis will depend on how you have ranked them in your network. You’ll contact your advocates more often than you will connect with an acquaintance. Although both will give you business, you’re more likely to get consistent business from your top advocates.
But consistency doesn’t end there. You must also be consistent in the work you do every day. That means doing your power hours on a daily basis during the most social time of year, the time between Halloween and New Year’s. This is your time to get out there and connect with your network, whether it’s in person or via text or messaging app.
