If you want to grow your business you have to grow yourself first. Many network marketers have big plans when they start their businesses. They want to make the most sales, add a ton of people to their networks, and have dreams of success. However, the most successful people in business, especially network marketing, know that they need to do more than improve the business to achieve success. They also have to improve themselves. This means sharpening their skills, improving their expertise, in doing the things they need to in order to better serve their network. This starts with self-improvement. Here’s how to incorporate self-improvement in your business.

Why is self-improvement and training important?

What is self-improvement and why is it important to your business? Self-improvement entails training courses, books, podcasts, full training programs, and anything that helps you grow and develop your skills. It’s also anything that helps you expand your knowledge and expertise in your area of expertise. Self-improvement is basically committing to constantly improving yourself, that is your skills and your knowledge so that you can serve your network better.

Most people know that they need to improve themselves in order to build a strong and Lasting business. However, they may not realize how often they need to improve these skills and boost their expertise. When they are first starting out, they may realize that they have so much to learn so that they can serve their networks. But, a funny thing happens as they gain more experience in their businesses. They begin to think that they know everything, or at least a lot more than they do.

For example, they may believe that because they have a large network, that their communication skills are on point and don’t need to be improved. In reality, communication skills can always be improved. After all, the way we communicate and how we prefer to communicate with each other is something that is always changing. The most successful network marketers understand that communication is a skill that can always use Improvement, especially as our modes of communication change.

But many people don’t realize that successful people are always looking for ways to improve their skills. Sure, they may make it look easy. However, if you peek behind the curtain, you’ll see that they’re always looking for ways to become better: better communicators, better salespeople, better at serving their networks, better at reaching their goals, better at committing to their businesses, etc. They’re committed to never-ending improvement. That is, even if they become the most successful person in their industry, they will still be focused on self-improvement. If you want to lead a successful network marketing business, it’s important to take a page from their books.

How to make time for self-improvement

One of the biggest complaints network marketers make is that they don’t have time for self-improvement. They know that they need to work on their businesses and work on themselves in the process. However, with the demands of the day and everything pulling up their sleeves for attention, it can be difficult to find time to work on themselves. Like many things in business and in life, you have to make it a priority. When you make self-improvement and personal development a priority in your life, you will find that you always have the skills and resources necessary to serve your network and the most important people in your life.

Making time for your business 

If you want to succeed, your business demands your attention. You have to make it a priority. Each day, when you write out your to-do list, working on your business should be on that list. In fact, it should be the top priority on your list, with very few exceptions. One of the best ways to make time for your business is to prioritize your Power Hour. Although network marketers with exceptionally large networks may need the whole hour, most can finish connecting with their networks within 20 to 30 minutes. 

How do you fill the rest of the time? You could spend it on self-improvement. If you break your Power Hour up into smaller segments, you could consider spending at least 15 minutes on personal development. This could take the form of many things, from reading a chapter of a business book or listening to a business-related podcast. Although ideally, you would do this every day, we realize it’s sometimes you don’t have that kind of time. So, plan to do some sort of personal development at least once a week. If you can do more, that’s even better.

Other roadblocks to development

There are many misconceptions about personal development. Although the biggest one is that people say they don’t have the time to work on themselves, there are other objections as well. 

Money

Another common objection is that they can’t afford it. It’s true that most training programs cost money. When you’re first starting out in your business, you may not have the money to spend on formal training programs. However, the reality is, you can’t afford not to spend money on training programs. If you want to reach your goals and succeed in your business, regular training is essential. Training programs give you the tools that you need to connect with your network and serve them better. They also give you the tools to run a successful network marketing business. This is especially true if you haven’t run a business before.

The key benefit of training programs is that it ensures that you will work to improve your skills and increase your knowledge. It’s a set time during the week for you to learn. You can’t move it to the back burner. However, another benefit of training programs is that they allow you to connect with other people who are trying to build the foundation for strong network marketing businesses. Chances are, they face the same challenges as you, and you can use them as a resource to brainstorm ideas for overcoming the challenges you face.

Another time

Another objection is that the Network marketer feels they should put off personal development. They may feel they’re not ready for it or that they simply don’t have the time to do it right now. They may say they’ll do it later in the year or next year or once their business has reached a certain point. However, there is no right time for personal development. The best time to commit to personal development and self-improvement is anytime. Specifically, as soon as you start your business. Even if you think your skills are perfect as they are, there is always room for improvement.

Although your schedule may be busy now, chances are that’s not going to improve at any point in the near future. Putting it off does not help, in fact, it hurts your chances of coming back to self-improvement in the future. And that’s not a personal site period where all like that period once we say that we’re going to put something off until later how often do we get around to doing it? As soon as we utter the words but we’re going to wait until our schedules are more clear, we’ve already created the perfect excuse to keep putting it off. So instead of putting it off, start now. Then make it a habit to work on self-improvement.

Read

The best place to start is with a book. Many successful business people write memoirs about their journey to success. There are also books written about successful historical figures. Both of these types of books offer valuable lessons for new and experienced business leaders and network marketers. You can learn from both their successes and their failures and incorporate the lessons they learned in your business. If you don’t have time to read a book, audiobooks are a clever solution that you can listen to anywhere.

Podcasts

Many successful business people also have podcasts where they share their expertise and chat with other successful people. The big benefit of podcast is that you can listen to them anywhere. Take time to listen to one each day or several times a week.

Training programs

Training programs are an invaluable investment in your business and yourself. Many of these programs are online solutions to help you become better at business and serve your Network at a higher level. Some are self-paced, and others meet at specific times. The nature of a training program gives you the framework to make time for self-improvement each day. You can’t skip it. To succeed in your business, it is important to plan to participate in a training program at least once a year. This will help you keep your skills sharp, while also teaching you new skills that you can use in your business.
