Success: Embrace a Fresh Beginning in the New Year

Although you can start fresh at any time, the New Year signifies the perfect time to start over. It’s a new beginning – an opportunity to do things better than you did last year. Additionally, it’s a time to recommit to your goals, your Why, and your business. If you want to achieve success this year in your life and business, the time to start is now.

How to start fresh

Want to start fresh this year? Here’s how:

Discover what you want to achieve this year

To succeed, you have to know where you’re headed. Goals help you get there. What do you aspire to achieve this year? If you haven’t already, now is the time to figure out what you want to achieve and then set goals to help you get there.

To set realistic goals, look at your progress over the last year. How many sales did you make? How many people did you add to your network? Use your answers to these questions to help you create goals for the year ahead.

Once you’ve set goals, formulate a plan to achieve them. What will you do to ensure you achieve them? A daily Power Hour is a great start. Commit to doing several Power Hours a week and consider increasing them during your busiest times of the year. Another idea is to make your business a priority. This will help ensure that you do your Power Hour when you say you will each week.

“You will never change your life until you change something you do daily. The secret of your success if found in your daily routine.” – John C. Maxwell

Identify what’s holding you back from success

Although we may want to change in our heart of hearts, outside forces or even internal thoughts may hold us back. Negative people, activities, or thoughts are roadblocks on the journey to success. After all, how can you succeed if you have voices in your ear telling you it’s impossible?

In addition to negativity, many of us are held back by fear – fear of failure and even fear of success. We fear what will happen if we fail and we may also fear what will happen if we succeed. Will we become different people? What new problems will we face when we achieve our dreams? For many, the easiest thing to do is nothing at all. However, success will always elude people who don’t try.

What is holding you back in your business?

Experienced network marketers

Think about what may have held you back in the last year. Then go back further, if you’ve been in the business longer. When you reach your goals, are you afraid to set more ambitious goals? Similarly, when you set goals, do you set ones that are easy to reach? Is there negativity in your life that makes you nervous to achieve your goals and build a thriving business?

New network marketers

If you’re new to network marketing, you can still think about what is holding you back. Think about other jobs or roles you’ve had in your life. Were you able to advance as much as you had wanted? Did you feel that your thoughts or actions were sabotaging your success? Are you feeling like you’re being held back, either by your thoughts or by an outside force, like other people’s opinions or thoughts?

In both of these instances, identify what may be holding you back and work toward overcoming it. If it’s negativity, surround yourself with positivity, from what you read to what and who you listen to. If it is fear around failure or success, think about why you feel that way and take steps to change your thinking. Will it take time? Yes, but in the end and with practice, you’ll be able to overcome the thoughts and actions that may be sabotaging your success.

“Look forward with hope, not backward with regret”

Prepare for challenges

Challenges are a part of life, especially when you have ambitious goals. Overcoming them is essential if you want to achieve success. Although you may not be able to avoid challenges all the time, nor can you predict when they will occur, it is possible to prepare for them. Specifically, prepare for how you’ll face the challenge when it arises.

“Don’t take every challenge as a problem, take every problem as a challenge”

Put in the work

You’ll be better prepared to handle any challenges in business if you’ve committed to prioritizing your business and doing the activities that lead to success. Doing a daily (or several times a week) Power Hour will help you build the foundation for a strong business that can weather the typical storms of business.

Seek advice

The same is true for building a strong team. Often, the best way to address challenges is to seek the help and advice of others. In general, any problem you face is not new. While it may be new to you, it’s not new to the majority of business owners and network marketers. Chances are good that someone on your team has also dealt with the same problem themselves. Find out what they did to face it. Sometimes, they were able to overcome it with the solution they found. Other times, the solution they tried wasn’t much of a solution at all. That can help as well. Ask them what they would have done differently. And, if no one on your team has faced that particular challenge before, brainstorm ideas and possibilities to help you overcome it. Seeking out different viewpoints and perspectives can do wonders to help you overcome the toughest of challenges.

Find a coach or mentor

Coaches and mentors have a wealth of experience they can tap into to help you overcome the challenges you’ve faced. Similar to seeking out advice from your team, asking your coach or mentor for advice can help as well. A coach will not only listen to the issue you’re facing or anticipate facing, but they’ll also help you formulate a plan to tackle it. They’ll help you prepare for whatever challenges you’ll face.

Similarly, a mentor has been there before and has likely faced the same issue in the past. They’ll share what they did, what they wish they had done and can help you develop the mindset that will help you prepare to overcome it.

Stay inspired to achieve success

Changes are more likely to stick when you’re inspired to commit to this new beginning. After all, inspiration is what may have prompted you to change; harnessing this inspiration will ensure it becomes a lasting change – one that will serve you on the road to success.

Visualize success

What prompted you to commit to this new beginning? Why did you want to start over? Keep that thought in mind and find a visual representation of this reasoning. Often this is connected to your Why – that is your reason for getting involved in the business in the first place. Sometimes it’s slightly different. Whatever the reason, find a visual representation of this success and post it where you can see it. If you can’t find a picture, write it down on a sticky note that you keep wherever you work on your business. This will help you stay inspired and motivated to succeed, even on days when it feels easier to quit.

Surround yourself with success

Seek out successful network marketers whose success you wish to emulate. Then, find out how they got to where they are. Whenever you speak with them, ask for advice that helped them get to where they are. The old saying birds of a feather flock together is true. If you want to achieve success, you have to surround yourself with successful people – you’ll push each other to continue to succeed and keep one another inspired.
