Increase Your Productivity for a Busy Summer

If you’re like most people, you want to become more productive. Who doesn’t want to get more done each day?  In a perfect world, all we’d have to do is wave a magic wand and Poof! everything would get done. Unfortunately, reality doesn’t involve magic wands. If we want to clear our to-do lists, well, we’d best get on it! The good news is, it is possible to boost productivity each day, even in the summer when your to-do is long and your motivation is short.

Boost your productivity today!

Have your most productive summer ever! Here’s how:

Take advantage of this busy time of year

The summer months are a busy time for many network marketers. You’re feeling more social, which is putting you in touch with more people from your network and you’re meeting people who you can add to your network. Additionally, depending on your business, more people might be seeking out the products and services you have to offer. You may find your to-do list is growing each day.

For many network marketers, though, this is the time when their motivation begins to wane. They’ve been working hard on their business for six months and they’re tired. If they haven’t seen the results they had expected, they may feel frustrated as well. And, with a growing to-do list, they may not feel like working on their businesses and taking advantage of this social time of year.

Take advantage of social situations

Between summer barbeques, the kids’ summer sports and activities, and an increase in events, you’re going to be in contact with a lot of people. Get ready to talk about your business. Don’t worry about not sounding natural; a natural part of conversation is talking about what you’ve been doing. As a busy network marketer, you’ve been working on your business! Share what you’ve been up to, how business is going, and that you’d love to help them. If they seem interested, extend the opportunity to them. Don’t forget to ask them to introduce you to other great people like themselves – after all, you want to build a network of strong advocates of your business.

If you’re not sure what to say, Teamzy has created scripts to make it easier to talk about your business to anyone, whether it’s a top advocate or a new prospect. Review the scripts and practice them in the mirror until you feel more comfortable using them. The more you practice, the more at-ease you’ll feel talking about your business!

Get motivated

Your motivation is connected to your productivity. It’s normal to feel your motivation ebb and flow throughout the year. After all, it’s impossible to be motivated all the time. Summer is no exception. If you’re like most people, you’d rather be having fun in the sun than being indoors working on your business. However, this is the time for you to be building up your business so you can take time off to rest (more on that later). But first, you have to boost your motivation.

Motivation starts with Why. What is your Why? That is, what is your reason to get up and connect with your network every, or nearly every, day? For some, reviewing their Why is enough to put a fire under them to get working. However, others need more prompting. Is there a song or a quote that gets you amped? It could also be a photo or video by your favorite motivational speaker. Whatever it is, watch it, read it, or listen to it and get motivated to succeed. In the future, if you’re feeling your motivation begin to slide, tap into what motivates you.

Set priorities

How do the most productive people get more done each day than the rest of us? They prioritize. This is the key to their productivity. Their to-do lists are just as long as everyone else’s. The difference is that they don’t weigh everything equally. Some tasks are more important than others; some tasks can wait or be delegated to someone else. They focus on one or two tasks at a time – always the most important ones on the list – as they achieve more each day.

It doesn’t matter how long your list grows, focus on the top one or two tasks first. Take a look at your to-do list. What is the one thing you have to complete today, no matter what? Place a star by it or circle it. That’s your top priority. Then, find the next most important thing on the list. Those are the two things you’ll work on right now. Once those are complete, work on the next most important thing on the list.

Setting priorities helps you take control of your day. You’re not at the whim of the distractions and other things that arise during the day to pull you away from what matters. You can ignore them to focus on the task at hand.

What if everything seems like a priority?

Trust me, it’s not. There are days when you’ll look at your list and say, “I have to get it all done today. How do I know what to do first?”

When everything seems like a priority, refer to your Why. Your Why helps you focus your energy. Ask yourself which of the activities on the list will help you get closer to your goals and adheres to your Why. For example, your Power Hour should always be a top priority because doing it will help you achieve your goals. The thing is, you will be able to get it all done as long as you focus on your priorities first. Knowing your priorities prevents you from wasting time trying to figure out what to do next.

Increase activity now to prepare your business for time off

You don’t have to work hard all summer – after all, you want to take time to rest and enjoy time off! Rest is important to any business leader. Before you take time to recharge, you’ve got to shore up your business. That means working hard now to prepare your business for that time off.

Add another Power Hour or two to your week

Kick your productivity to the next level. If you’re doing two or three Power Hours a week and you plan to take time off this summer, increase the number of Power Hours you do. This will help you stay on track and compensate for time you’re taking off. Additionally, increasing the number of Power Hours helps you plant the seeds for future business.

Ask for more introductions

If you want to grow your business, you have to grow your network. That means asking for introductions to other people who would appreciate the products and services you provide. Start with your advocates. They’re already huge supporters of your business. Asking them to introduce you to people they know will help you add more advocates to your network.

Check your habits

When you take time off, it can be difficult to get back to the routine of working on your business when you return. However, if you’ve already built up the positive habits of productivity, it’ll be much easier to slip back into your routine.

Make your Power Hour part of your day

Not only is your Power Hour a top priority, it is something you should do daily, especially if you’re taking time off. Get in the habit of making it part of your day and you won’t have to worry about your productivity taking a hit while you’re gone. Although it is an “hour” technically, most network marketers can connect with everyone on their list for the day in 30 minutes or less. Use the remaining time to work on your own personal development, work on other parts of the business, or simply move on to the next priority on the list.

Review your goals

How close are you to reaching your goals? Are you on track or in danger of going off-track? Review your progress toward achieving your goals on a regular basis. The frequency of “regular” is up to you. Some network marketers check their progress weekly; others do it every few months. The key is to review it often enough that you always know where you stand, and can make course corrections when necessary.
